  • 7-8U Coach Pitch Tournament Rules

     

    A. 10 defensive players shall play in the field along with 4 outfielders.  The 4th outfielder shall not assume an infield position.

    B. Teams may use free substitution on defense, but the batting order shall remain the same.

    C. Bunting is not allowed.

    D. Catcher must squat behind home plate in full gear.

    E. Maximum of 7 runs per inning.

    F. 6 pitches or 3 swinging strikes – Player may continue to bat if they continue to foul off pitches.

    G. No infield fly will be in effect

    H. Defensive players must remain behind the 30’ safety arc until the ball has been hit.

    I. Play is stopped when the progress of the lead runner is stopped. Umpire calls

    time as soon as lead runner is not attempting to advance.

    J. Pitcher must have one foot in circle or behind the pitching coach.

    K. The pitcher shall not leave the pitching circle until the ball has been hit.

    L. Game length for pool play will be 1 hour 10 min or 6 innings. DROP DEAD is in effect for Pool PlayThe batter at the plate will finish his at bat in pool play when time has expired.    Game time for bracket play will be 1 hour 15 minutes or 6 innings.  No new inning will start with LESS than 5 minutes on the clock for bracket play.

    M. Base length will be 60 feet

    N. The pitching coach shall keep one foot on or straddle the pitchers line. The coach can pitch anywhere in-between the 30’ safety arc and the 42’ pitching circle.

    O. Runners shall not lead off or steal bases. A runner will be called out for leaving the base before the ball is hit or reaches home plate.

    P. If a thrown ball hits the pitching coach, it is considered a live ball, unless the Umpire

    determined the coach intentionally interfered. If Ump feels it was intentional, it will be a dead ball and the play is repeated. (Do Over)

    Q. If the Pitching Coach is hit with a ball leaving the bat, all runners will return to their

    previous base and the batter will bat again. (Do- Over)

    R. Defensive coaches shall not be allowed on the field of play and shall coach from the dugout.

    S. Run rules will be in effect for all games

    i. 15 runs after 3 complete innings

    ii. 8 after 4 innings

     

    Bracket Play seeded as follows:

  • W/L record
  • Head to head
  • Runs allowed
  • Run scored
  • Coin Toss 

 

8.04.C The pitching coach shall position himself as not to be an obstruction to the defensive team on any possible play once the ball has been hit.

Rule 8.04.C Penalty: If a coach violates this rule after the ball is pitched, obstruction shall be called.

Rule 8.04.C Additional Penalty: If a coach violates this rule before the ball is pitched, First Offense: Warning; Second Offense: Removal of coach as the pitcher for the remainder of the game.

 

 

 

RULE 8.00 – COACH PITCH SPECIFIC RULES

8.01 Fair Ball Arc: There shall be a twenty (20) foot arc drawn from first (1st) baseline to third (3rd) baseline in front of home plate. A batted ball must go past this line to be a fair ball.

8.02 Safety Arc: There shall be a thirty (30) foot arc drawn from first (1st) baseline to third (3rd) baseline in front of home plate. Infielders must stay behind this line until the ball is hit.

8.03 Pitching Circle: There shall be a ten (10) foot diameter circle with the front edge at forty-two (42) feet from the rear point of home plate.

8.04 Pitcher’s Line: There shall be a line drawn from the pitcher’s circle to the safety arc.

8.04.A The pitching coach shall keep one foot on or straddle the pitcher’s line. The Coach can pitch anywhere in-between the 30’ Safety Arc and the 42’ Pitching Circle.

8.04.B The pitching coach shall not verbally or physically coach while in the pitching position

 

 

10-12U Tournament Rules                                         

  1.  No metal cleats are allowed.
  2. A team may play an official game with 8 players. If a team plays with 8 players’, then an out shall be declared for the 9th position in the batting line-up each turn at bat.
  3. Whenever a tag play is evident, a runner must slide or seek to avoid contact with the fielder and or catcher.
  4. A regulation game consists of 6 innings.
  5. An intentional walk may be issued upon announcement from either the pitcher or catcher without throwing pitches.
  6. 1st game played is the only guaranteed start time.  All other games will start when umpire calls for ballgame.
  7. 1 hr. and 10 (70) min. time limit in POOL and 1 hr. and 20 (80) minutes for bracket play.  A new inning will not start with less than 5 minutes left in the game in BRACKET play.  POOL play games will be DROP dead.  The batter at the plate will finish his at bat in pool play when time has expired.   
  8. In Bracket Play the team that is the higher seed will always be the home team.
  9. Run rules-15 after 3, 8 after 4 or 20 after any inning. 
  10. At any time, the offensive team may use a courtesy runner for the pitcher and catcher of record from the previous inning on defense. The courtesy runner must be a player not currently in the line-up.  If no players not currently in the line-up are available, the courtesy runner shall be the player making the last batted out.
  11. Batting-coaches discretion.  Teams may bat round robin or only use 9 players with substitutions.  If you choose to bat round robin and a player cannot bat it will be considered an out at his time to bat in the original batting order.
  12. It is your job to check the official book and make sure your pitching was recorded correctly as soon as your game ends.
  13. Home team is responsible for keeping the official book and visiting team is responsible for keeping the scoreboard.
  14. Pitcher is allowed to pitch 6 innings for every two consecutive games. One pitch constitutes one inning pitched. Inning count does not start over when bracket play begins.
  15. Pitching mound visits will remain 2 coaches visits per inning, with the second coaches visit to the same pitcher in the same inning resulting in a pitching change.
  16. Any bat permanently stamped with the official USSSA baseball logo is legal.
  17. Pool play games may end in a tie.
  18. Elimination Games: Tie breaker- There will be one out, the last out from the previous inning will be placed on 2nd base, all batters that come to bat will have 1 strike and 2 balls they will play until there is a winner.
  19. Bracket Play seeded as follows:
    1. W/L record
    2. Head to head
    3. Runs allowed
    4. Run scored
    5. Coin Toss 
  20. Birth certificates are required for all players. These can be a paper copy or kept in electronic format. In the event of a question of player eligibility it is the responsibility of the coach to provide proof of age by the means of a birth certificate at that time. Failure to provide proof will deem that player ineligible. Age requirements are as defined by USSSA official baseball National by-laws and rules-rule 3.0 individual player and team eligibility.
  21. Team insurance is required for ALL teams.

 

 

 13U Tournament Rules

USSA Rules Apply with the following additions/comments:
